Golden Pu-erh 5 years

"Golden Pu-erh has been aged for five years in a dark cave in Yunnan Province."
This aging process in a relatively high humidity environment has mellowed the character of the tea when compared to young Pu-erh (aged about 1 year).
As with wine, Pu-erh 5 years or older is more highly prized.
A study in Japan indicated that all tea lowered cholesterol and that Pu-erh was more effective than green tea. Chinese tea for health reports that Pu-erh can; “cut the grease, help digestion, promote body fluid secretion, quench the thirst, invigorate the spleen and dispel alcoholic toxins” Whether Pu-erh is effective or not for the various claims that researchers and tea drinkers make, has not been firmly established by medical professionals, but we know of family, friends and hundreds of customers who are convinced!, what is certain is that Pu-erh tea is rather unusual and has properties many other do not share.

The method of production is: The tea leaves are picked, rolled, withered in the hot sun, after which they are steamed and pressed into cakes. (This Pu-erh is broken up out of the cakes to make it easier to deal with). The steaming process generates some moisture and when compressed (without drying) into the cakes, over time the tea takes on a musty and earthy character. Pu-erh which gets somewhat mouldy before it naturally dries is considered the best. Pu-erh is then stored for years the older the tea the more expensive and desirable it becomes.

This is a refined mellow tea, one of the best! a great introduction to Pu-erh. A good all-round tea for any time of day, dark earthen with a shimmering Pu-erh brightness.

It really hits the mark, a very satisfying drink for Pu-erh lovers and beginners alike.

PuEhr Loose Leaf

Excellent PuEhr looseleaf Tea, consistently higher quality than we have found elsewhere.
This is why we but from TeaCakes of York though shipping to our rural Arizona, USA location is added expense, yet thankfully quite reliable even during the pandemic.

Teacakes PuEhr Excels Again.

Another order of loose PuEhr from this delightful company delivered all the way to us in Yuma, Arizona, US.
It was timely especially considering Covid Years delays might've slowed shipping. Admittedly shipping was not cheap-
but well worth the dollars spent in order to get this fabulous tea just before the worst desert heat settled in, July 21.
I save this lovely tea for weekends when I am off and have more time to savor the luxuriously rich, dark flavor.

A very unusual tea

This is a very dark, almost black infusion with a very characteristic smell, unlike any other tea I have come across. Slightly musty, slightly smoky aroma. The taste is very mellow, though, and I found it very pleasant, rounded, and satisfying but again, a tea unlike others. This was a taster sample for me but I will be buying a full quantity.
